Trade License is important License in business to start or trade-in business

  • What is a Trade License? :

A trade license is a certificate that gives permission to the person seeking to open a business to commence a particular trade or business in a particular place 


  • Why Trade License? :

Trade license has been introduced in the country and is being regulated through municipal corporation acts by the state governments. It has been made necessary by the government to carry out any particular business or trade in a particular area and to ensure that no one is carrying out any unethical business practices.


  •  Different categories of trade license :

1. Industries license: small, medium and large scale manufacturing factories
2. Shop license: Dangerous and Offensive trades like a barbershop, dhobi shop, etc.
3. Food establishment license: canteen, the sale of meat & vegetables, bakeries, etc.


  • Processing Time :

In general, it takes 10-15 days' time to process the application of Trade license in metro cities. 


  •   Trade license Renewal :

In India, Trade License is Valid for one year & itis renewed between January 1st to March 31st The application for renewal of the license is to be made within thirty days from the date of its expiry. In case the renewal process is delayed, then it may attract fine depending upon the rules and regulations of the issuing authority.

  • Penal provisions


There are various other provisions, rules, and regulations that are required to be followed by the registered person.n case of failure to comply with the registration requirements of trade license and commencing any trade activity before the issuance of this license, the person in the default will be liable to pay a prescribed penalty.

MCA to introduce the "SPICe+" form to replace the existing SPICe form.  Stakeholders may please note that as part of the Government of India’s Ease of Doing Business initiative , the Ministry of Corporate Affairs would be shortly notifying   replacing the existing SPICe form to SPICe+ form SPICe+   would be an integrated Web form offering multiple services  name reservation, incorporation, DIN allotment, mandatory issue of PAN, TAN, EPFO, etc. SPICe+   web form, RUN shall be applicable only for the change of name of existing companies.
